Fitter/Welder

Fitters must have the ability to read and interpret drawings relating to the fabrication of structural steel and pass a fillet weld test using a mig welder (up to 5/16 weld size). Welders must be able to pass a weld certification test. The process tested is a full penetration weld on a one inch thick plate in a horizontal position using flux core wire(3/32) and a shielding gas (dual shield). The primary responsibility of a welder is to join metal parts following Hammerts Standards. Welders/Fitters require the ability to move their own material with the use of pendant operated overhead cranes and/or jib cranes.
